For want of a better phrase, a lot of businesses in the UK are living in the past in terms of cyber security. There are preconceived notions that automated and manual security testing approaches should be based on what they were 10-15 ago, but this is not the case.
When you look at the likes of Israel, the United States and see some of the really cool and innovative technologies that are coming out, you realise that it's probably time we start thinking about how we're going to catch up. This begins by thinking about how we can better implement automation.
The UK has always been a very services led place and we're always happy to throw more people at a problem. But, what people should now be understanding in modern day technology is that tools are incredibly valuable resources that can do way more than people in a lot of cases.
That's not to say people don't still have their value. There are still things like manual testing methodologies that we should also be looking to our international friends and partners to be able to adopt. But, fundamentally, we need to be more open to approaching and solving problems with software and tools.
